Due to its application in the creation of batteries for electronic gadgets, electric cars, and renewable energy storage systems, lithium is a rare and precious metal that has grown in significance in the modern world. The Kashmir area, which is shared by India, Pakistan, and China, contains one of the greatest lithium resources on earth. This region has experienced major political conflicts and geopolitical maneuvering as a result of the availability of this lucrative resource.

Deposits of lithium in Kashmir:

The Srinagar-Leh belt, which is a piece of the Himalayan belt, is where the lithium reserves in the Kashmir area are found. It is estimated that the belt, which runs along the border between Pakistan and India, has lithium deposits totaling more than 1.4 million metric tonnes.

Pakistan, however, has asserted legal authority over the lithium deposits in Kashmir and has charged India with using the area's resources without the locals' permission. Pakistan has also charged India with violating human rights in the area, which it claims is being done to quell local opposition to lithium mining.
